Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid training for your Organisation

Mental Health First Aid training for your organisation

Every year millions of working days are lost to mental ill health. The most common reasons are anxiety, stress and depression.

Protecting the mental health of your workforce is as important as protecting their physical health.

Shaw Trust’s Mental Health First Aid Training allows your organisation to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions early and provide help, support and relevant signage to support services.

This is a certified course delivered by a quality assured instructor, who has attended the seven day instructor training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.

MHFA England

Who should book onto the course?

This course is for anybody who comes into contact with the public, who may potentially come into contact with someone experiencing a Mental Health Crisis and unsure how to respond. It is a valuable course for everybody, in particularly those who work with vulnerable adults and for employers who have concerns about the wellbeing of their staff.

By attending this course you will not be a trained therapist but you will be a Mental Health First Aider.

Testimonials from delegates that have attended the course:

We have trained up 30 of our managers and supervisors at COOK as mental health first aiders over the past 6 months, and we’re delighted by the positive feedback and the clear value of the course already.  The course gives participants the practical techniques and the confidence to approach and handle mental ill health, as well as great resources for where to ‘go’ when professional help is needed.  Sam is an excellent facilitator, who brings her own personal and professional experience together.  I’d recommend this course to anyone, for work and beyond.
COOK KITCHENS- SITTINGBOURNE,KENT

I found MHFA training a really beneficial experience. As a Support Manager, supporting our participants with their mental health needs is an everyday occurrence. Since the training, I have had a new found confidence to do this. In particular, I found myself able to talk openly and confidently with those facing suicidal feelings, and work with them to access the best help for them. I honestly cannot recommend this training more!"

I personally found the course to be a good mix of enjoyment and frank discussion of the serious side to mental health. The big thing I took away from MHFA was ALGEE which has provided me with an easy-to-remember and structured way to approach situations I would have otherwise found incredibly challenging.

The course raised my awareness of Mental Health issues.  As a Team Leader I found it a really useful tool to raise my understanding of signs and symptoms which I can, should the occasion arise, use to care for my team members. This is especially relevant considering the types of calls we make/receive.  I personally would recommend that all TL’s and Managers attend the course as part of Employee Care Training

I wanted to give you an email just to thank you for the MHFA course. The knowledge I have taken away from this has been incredible. The knowledge and understanding you had which you passed on to us was amazing. It has made me want to explore this further and help promote MHFA. This has been the best course I have been on so far. Once again thank you.
